Bianca will be discussing her methods for engaging with commons and commoning within the Lagarina Valley of the Italian Alps and will be reflecting on the role that collective design, community organising and feminist economic thinking plays in creating and sustaining commoning activities in her valley and beyond.

Bianca Elzenbaumer is a feminist design researcher based in the Italian Alps. completed her doctorate at Goldsmiths, University of London, in 2014 with research on precarious working conditions and on how to mobilise design to undo them. She holds an MA in Communication Art & Design from the Royal College of Art and an MA in Mediation and International Peacebuilding from the University of Bologna. Elzenbaumer is a founding member of the design practice Brave New Alp, of the community academy @la.foresta.rovereto and of the @alpinecommunityeconomies Laboratory. She is a member of the Community Economies Institute and Vice-Director of the Center for Other Worlds (@ctrotherworlds) at Lusófona University in Lisbon.
