What to do when you receive a document? To understand the status of the document is not only to examine its content, but also to examine the factors of its conception and continued existence. Understanding documents require an investigation into its structure Does it contain tables? What truth is implied in the way the information is ordered? How does it assert its authority? Documents rarely exist in isolation, often referencing another and legitimised by other documents that create a network of citations. What is left out of the document and where does it (physically) live?
