LIOS Labs’ Seeds of Survival at the Edge of the Desert is a field guide that emerged through deep listening and co-creation with Pustynia Błedowska desert during The Desert Transformation Lab (Pustynia Błedowska, Poland, 2020-2025) and SAAT: Sowing Seeds in the Desert (Berlin, 2024) residencies.
Reseeding our inner landscapes with earth-wisdom, we return to the living patterns of Li. Through this re-attunement, we begin to sense the desertifying effects of dehumanization that have scarred the human psyche, just as ecocide erodes wider ecosystems.
In this field of relations, more-than-humans become our teachers, offering profound instruction: even the most common plants model compassion and care, not as moral ideals but as shared virtues woven through the fabric of existence. Their teachings remind us that to become more human is to recognize that virtues, as well as unique characteristics, are not exclusively human possessions, but shared expressions of life’s wider intelligence.
Through choreographic scores, rituals, visualisations, and reflections that translate the characters and virtues of our relations, LIOS Labs offers this field guide for you as a seed to plant in the dark—n initiative of regeneration of inner and outer worlds (as within, so without). Imagination then becomes a vessel, a body, a seed—a carrier-bag of futures rooted in ancestral knowledge and in the evolutionary technologies of life itself that moves across the winds, stirring societal change.
