How can artists with disabilities and migration backgrounds be more fully recognized and integrated as essential contributors to contemporary art ecosystems in Switzerland?
What curatorial, institutional, and community-based models best support their visibility, agency, and professional development?
How do experiences of disability and migration influence artistic practices and cultural narratives?
Inclusive Art in Switzerland: Artists with Disabilities and Migration Experience as an Essential Part of the Artistic Landscape explores how artists with disabilities and migration backgrounds contribute to contemporary art and cultural life in Switzerland. The project focuses on issues of visibility, access, representation, and belonging, examining how artists with lived experiences of disability and displacement challenge dominant narratives and enrich artistic ecosystems. Through research, interviews, curatorial inquiry, and engagement with artists, institutions, and communities, the project aims to identify more inclusive models of cultural participation and support. It also investigates how museums, residency programs, and cultural organizations can create sustainable conditions for artistic development and equal participation. By connecting disability studies, migration, and curatorial practice, the project seeks to contribute to broader discussions on diversity, accessibility, and social justice in contemporary art.
